THE ORIGINS OF
HXC GAMING:
Ricky is an Oklahoma native who started hosting video game tournaments in his parent’s garage as a young teenager. He and his friends would compete in some of the more popular games at the time such as Mortal Kombat, NBA Live, Madden, and Street Fighter to name a few. After a while, his parents began to notice an increase in the electricity bill so he implemented a fee of anywhere from $1-$5 to participate. Not only did this make Ricky’s addiction to competitive gaming easier to fund, it also made his parents happier.
Years later, Ricky enlisted in the United States Air Force. During his enlistment, he spent a tour in Seoul Korea. In his downtime he began to study the art of gaming and learning new strategies on how to properly run gaming tournaments. Then he started putting his research to the test and hosted gaming tournaments on base. Each gaming tournament had a sellout crowd of over 300 participants! After his tour in Korea, Ricky was stationed at Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City, Oklahoma (his hometown). He began to notice that there wasn’t much participation in the gaming world on base or throughout the state. Sure, there were massive lines for video game releases such as Madden, NCAA Football, and Halo but no events for them. It was then that HXC Gaming was born! In the beginning, HXC Gaming began running promotional events with the hopes of opening a gaming center. After a few test runs, it was shown to be more cost- effective to host mobile gaming tournaments. 11 years later, HXC Gaming has continued to be fully operational and will continue to offer gaming events. We are fully dedicated to growing, helping, and expanding our reach to the Esports community.
